Arnold Sziklay
The first Hungarian filmmaker
Sziklay was a businessman who is known to have taken film of Emperor Franz Joseph opening the Millennial Exhibition in Budapest, meeting the artist Mihaly Munkacsy and viewing his painting 'Ecce Homo'. Sziklay used a camera reputedly of his own construction and the results, though exhibited, were deemed to be a failure. The Edison Kinetoscope was a featured exhibit at the Millenial Exhibition as well. It does not appear that Sziklay, more of an opportunistic businessman than a keen filmmaker, followed up this first experiment.
